The MSP Transition Timeline (6-8 Weeks)

Weeks 1-2: Before notifying your current MSP, gather everything you own — network diagrams, hardware inventories, all software license keys, DNS records, domain registrar login, cloud account credentials, firewall configurations, and VPN credentials.

Weeks 3-4: Your new MSP begins discovery and documentation without taking over operations. Critical: ensure your current MSP contract doesn't prohibit parallel onboarding.

Week 5: Formal knowledge transfer between outgoing and incoming MSP. All credentials, documentation, and open tickets transferred.
