Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 Migration
CloudTechForce migrates businesses from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 in two to four weeks: Gmail to Exchange Online, Google Drive and Shared Drives to OneDrive and SharePoint, Calendar and Contacts to Outlook, with sharing permissions mapped and a weekend cutover so nobody loses a message. Pricing is per mailbox and per terabyte, and free for 10–20 user teams that start a quarterly managed IT plan.

Why businesses move from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365
- The rest of the business already lives in Excel, Word and Teams, or a client or parent company requires it.
- Compliance needs (HIPAA, CMMC, SOC 2) are easier to evidence with Microsoft Purview, Intune and Defender in one tenant.
- Windows device management (Intune, Autopilot) and identity (Entra ID) simplify security for a Windows-heavy office.
- Licensing consolidation: Microsoft 365 Business Premium bundles Office apps, device management and security that Google sells as separate add-ons.

What we migrate
| Google Workspace | Microsoft 365 destination | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail (mail, labels, filters where possible) | Exchange Online mailboxes | Labels become folders; nested labels preserved |
| Google Calendar (events, recurring meetings, resources) | Outlook calendars | Attendee responses re-validated; room resources recreated |
| Google Contacts | Outlook contacts | Groups mapped to contact lists |
| My Drive | OneDrive for Business | Ownership preserved; Google-native files converted to Office formats |
| Shared Drives | SharePoint document libraries | One site per shared drive by default, or a structure designed with you |
| Google Groups | Microsoft 365 groups and distribution lists | Membership and delivery settings recreated |
| Google Meet and Chat history | Teams | Meet recordings moved; Chat history export only |
| Google Sites, Forms, Apps Script | SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, Power Automate | Rebuilt, not migrated; scoped separately |
How the migration runs
- Week 1, discovery. Export of users, groups, shared drives, sizes and external sharing; DNS and domain review; licence plan; MFA and Conditional Access baseline agreed; staff communication plan.
- Week 2, tenant build and pre-staging. Users created or synced, mailboxes provisioned, historical mail and files copied in the background using Microsoft's [Google Workspace migration tooling](https://learn.microsoft.
- Cutover weekend. MX and autodiscover records switched, final delta sync of mail and files, Outlook and mobile profiles configured, sharing permissions applied on SharePoint, a "what changed" page sent to every user.
- Weeks 3–4, support and clean-up. Priority help desk for migration issues, permission report reviewed with you, Google Workspace reduced to a read-only archive for 30 days then decommissioned, Microsoft 365 backup switched on.

The things that go wrong when this is done badly
- Calendar invitations that show as tentative for everyone because acceptances were not migrated.
- Shared Drive files that arrive with no permissions, so the whole company can suddenly see HR.
- Google-native Docs migrated as links to a Google account that is about to be deleted.
- Aliases and group addresses that silently stop receiving mail after cutover.
- MFA "to be done later", which becomes never.
We check each of these against a written test plan before we call the migration complete.

"CloudTechForce is a great team to help us with this problem. They recognized some nuanced settings and fixed them which allowed the Microsoft Exchange email to start working." — Robert Barton, Gmail to Microsoft Exchange migration
